DSC Alexor Review The Alexor by DSC is a totally wireless security system that is both easy to operate and reliable.
At the very minimum, one permanent power wire has to be connected from the DSC Alexor main control to an appropriate electrical receptacle.
Although the Alexor claims to be fully wireless you do have to at least run one power wire. The rest of the system is battery powered. The batteries are lithium and last up to 5 years.
One of the downsides about the wireless functionality is the keypad. The keypad can tend to drain down the battery quite fast. The reason it drains the battery fast is because of features such as chime and the keypad display. When a door or window is opened repeatedly it draws down the battery to generate the chime tone. This feature and other battery depleting features can be disabled fairly easily in an effort to help preserve battery power. There is however a special power adapter that you can buy for the keypad that allows you to use every feature of the keypad without worry about battery drain.
The Alexor system by DSC offers virtually every available burglar alarm option as all the other types and brands of security systems on the market today.
The thing about wireless burglar alarm systems and sensors are that they all operate within the very same frequency ranges. These ranges, outdoors, can be as far as up to a mile or so but of course once you bring the devices indoor where they are designed to be installed the range will decrease due to obstructions. Obstructions to the wireless signal strength and range can come from things like steel, concrete walls and floors and other wireless signals in the home like a router.
The DSC Alexor boasts a 2 way communication feature which allows the system to run constant checks on itself. This benefits the user because you always know that the system is functioning properly and if it’s not then you can call for service or perform service for the do it yourselfer.
There are a variety of monitoring options from not having monitoring to a 3rd party professional monitoring service using a standard telephone line or internet or even and optional, yet slightly more expensive, radio cellular dialer.
The Alexor keypad has some other nice features like a sentence display that allows the user to read the keypad. This benefits the user because rather than having to look up a code or call the alarm provider the user can know instantly from this display the meaning of a message posted on the keypad.
You can also get a wireless keychain controller for the DSC Alexor panel. From you care you will be able to check the status of your alarm, turn the system on an off etc.
In summary of the DSC Alexor review is that it’s a reliable wireless security system that is cost effective, professional and easy to have installed. This is both a good do it yourself alarm or one to be professionally installed.
